weedkiller needed for ivy

looking for information on weed killers or ways to keep ivy away need to destroy roots so the dont ever grow back

Read up on Gallop 360.
5 litres of petrol
Box of matches
Ppe including gloves full flame prof overalls
1St step Douse the petrol all over the ivy
2nd step strike the match shot the match at ivy then run for ur life
3rd step make sure Kenny is no wer near and that sheila isn't in before you preform this act
Bill, might you give us an idea about the size of this ivy?
Is it a couple of feet up the wall, or covering the house with a 6" thick trunk at ground level?
My back garden is 5 foot higher than my neighbours with the support of brick wall the ivy is growing in my garden it has 4 inch root which is sending roots through the wall to dig these roots out i will be digging forever.

Not very constructive in terms of help for the OP
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt in case you were making a joke.
It largely depends on how much time and energy you have Bill - and whether you want to do it the natural way or use chemicals. Both sides have been well explained here so I can't add anything other than to say if you dig it out, you'll just need to be vigilant as new growth can take hold quickly.
