Gardeners World

Why is it Gardeners World is always the program the BBC sacrifices when any sort of sport is on television. 30mins a week isnt much - in fact its really quite pathetic considering how many people garden these days and im sure the BBC cld take something else off instead and move gardeners World to a later time.

But this happens every year-it will happen when Wimbledon is on as well-is no great surprise is it really?

Beeb had umpteen channels during the olympics. Maybe there should be a BBC sport channel, and then BBC 2 could have the gardening and some decent drama.

Also can Gardeners World go back to one hour please.

Do you want to pay more licence fee to fund a BBC sports channel-say double what you pay now??

It is the only way that could happenimage

Maybe it should be shown by taking this silly game off that's on far too often, the one where they kick a ball ,then falling over, then pretend to be hurt sort of thing, and please don't tell me its football ,i remember what football used to look like and its not that.

Given that the gardening is now repeated on sundays, the Beeb could have made the programme as normal and then just shown the repeat, (always assuming that you can have a repeat of a programme that wasn't actually shown)

I suspect the reason that Gardeners' world is off air during the snooker, is that the BBC have only a limited number of camaramen/women who are skilled in filming a rectangle of closely mown green while the experts wander around doing a bit of potting.

We had a similar discussion last year when - once again - GW was cancelled for sport, for a month then due to the Olympics. It is absolute nonsense to say that they can't film both unless the same cameramen, sound men/women and producers are required for the sport. So maybe chicky's suggestion is not so far from the mark!

It was shown during the Olympics I think you will find

Often it is not shown during WImbledon fortnight or when the snooker is on-also last year when the proms were on

Been the same for years and years and years........

On a pedantic note you can't cancel something that was never scheduled -can you?

    LOL!image

Come on BBC, please listen to us gardeners. 30 minutes is ridiculous...whats going on? The only additional treat we've had recently is the A-Z of gardening and even the clips on that are repeats!!

    More gardening programmes please!!!!!!

  • Well, thanks for setting me straight, LG. image I will watch my terminology more carefully in future.
