It is Sutherland s gold . Bought it for sunny spot but suffered in the sun when I was fattening it up in a pot so I planted it up in slightly dappled west facing spot. Had a quite a few dull chilly days so that might have done it.
Philadelphus aureus starts off yellow but goes green as the summer advances. Mine has all green leaves now, which give a contrast to the orange peel clematis (Bill McKenzie) that is growing through it.

re-read the OP - B3 mentions two shrubs, a sambucus and A.N.Other

Think it's two different shrubs Verd - sambucus and another.
Sounds like Philadelphus is the correct ID for the first one (with small white flowers) though
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
