I have a shrub with lime green leaves ( small white flowers) can't remember name and a sambuccus with some Scottish name. Anyway... Is the darkening of leaves to ordinary green part of the autumnal aging process? Thanks in advance. B

any chance of a photo?
At a complete guess the sambucus is S. Sutherland Gold - I've never been able to get it to do well for me.
Is the other one Choisya Sundance perhaps?
As Hosta says, a photo would help but I couldn't resist having a guess

I'm assuming the elder is Sutherland's Gold? If it's in too shady a position, the foliage will be greener . Dappled shade is the best site, with enough sun to keep the foliage golden. The more shade it has, the greener it will be.
Can't help with the other shrub without knowing more B3
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Might it be Sutherland's Gold?
