Talking about fads, I've had a memory of being a teenager and being taken with friends the "beer gardens" which were usually just a concreted area outside a pub and us girls being bought "Pims no. 5" drinks which we dutifully sipped while the blokes downed beers. They were awful drinks and one glass would easily last the whole afternoon.
