The trick is to spray with Pathclear before it gets too bad. Pathclear stays in the soil and so prevents more weeds growing (to a certain extent). There will only be a problem with dead weeds if you leave it too long before spraying and the weeds get too big.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah I know I should have prevented the grass from growing in the first place by sweeping/spraying but its too late for that. Apparently this close usually has a road sweeper come about once a year but for the last 2 years they have not had one. I'm thinking if I sprayed the drive with pathclear then had a chat to the guy who pays me for the communal work to get a road sweeper in then maybe the road sweeper would remove the dead grass? Gonna get the pathclear tomorrow.
My neighbour uses a flame gun and it is excellent without using weedkillers which can be harmful to pets and am not keen on using if I can help it. I agree if it is swept regularly it will stop so many weeds growing but does not stop them all obviously. A pressure washer is good too but may be a little aggressive and very time consuming.
Not a very helpful reply but this is why I didn't get a block brick path put in I decided on a small area of concrete to park the car on and the rest all planted up. I really hate spraying weedkiller on everything constantly.

Oh, the chap who laid the drive said that n ot Hubby!
If the paving is regularly swept that should stop soil/detritus collecting in the grooves which is what the seeds germinate in.

Would a strimmer take the dead stalks down to an acceptable level?
It's not long enough to strim. It's not long at all and doesn't look bad close up but when you look at it from a distance it doesn't look very nice.

I seem to remember somebody doing theirs with a high pressure hose.
