Aconitums too for me...got soe beauties. Salino.....I can tell you about Baptisia Australis. A beautiful plant...inky blue spikes for weeks It needs good...very good ..drainage and sunshine. Doesn't like being disturbed. Poor oil too. Salino, where have you tried it? When? Best to plant in spring. For me, it just comes up every year, better and better each time. Let us know hw you get on
..thank you verdun, I'm going to get one. I grew it on heavy clay in the west country and it got wet and damp and slug eaten, eventually disappearing without trace....
I have a better drained garden these days in the East so I'm going to order one. £4.99 from Crocus which isn't bad...
I notice we are on B's. I have a couple of little Berberis plants I might put up later, and wonder if anyone else is growing them...
I ask if perhaps we can also merge A's and B's in case we forget any, and then perhaps C's with D's and suchlike, as I'd like to corrupt the thread a little and add a couple more A's...
Anthemis 'E.C. Buxton', a plant I just can't do without for midsummer...
Azalea 'Mother's Day', this really stands out, a stunning red I think, for mid-May..
ooh, I don't know about that cheery, I shall have to check that one later... obviously not something I've noticed so far - I shall stick my nose in it, in due course...
I'm glad you like the photos...
Berberis 'Pow Wow'... a lovely little dwarf shrub that dazzles in Spring with it's bright yellow small leaves with little red flower buds. It's a dullish green in summer but with autumn colour and some red berries it comes alive again at that time....
CPB- I grew Anthemis E.C.Buxton many years ago but I don't remember it being scented. It was during my 'cottage garden' phase which was short lived as I was wooed by geometry, phormiums and Italianate design!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
well....imo you can't have decent summer in the garden without bumblebees....
Plant wise one of my favourite 'B's are bananas
this cluster was nobbled by the winter of 2010 :-/ I'd had the original plant for many years...bought as a 6" seedling from The Lost Gardens of Heligan...my favourite place in the whole world....
Thanks Fairygirl...altho it's right purty so I may have a go anyway. I think we all go through different phases as we learn what we like best...I think my exotics phase is just about over...but I have retained a love of ferns and large glossy leaves....
I don;t think I've ever been through a cottage garden phase...

Exquisute Salino....I particularly like the anthemis. Not grown that before...I googled and see that it sometimes has scented foliage...does this one?
