Verdun is ( as usual ) right about root congestion. If you didn't check, it's only been in 2 weeks so dig it up and tease out the rootball. You've got nothing to lose.
Bigger plants - especially shrubs- can get very pot bound so I think Verd's right about that. You've nothing to lose by getting it out the ground and looking
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

It's one of my best profiles Rich. I'm on the right by the way...
I'd just leave it till tomorrow. If that's the issue, soaking for an hour will revive it so no need to panic. You can get the planting hole sorted thoroughly with plenty of compost while it's soaking. Water it in well after replanting and mulch with more compost. As Hosta says - you may need to take the flowers off to help it along. It takes the stress away from the plant while it establishes

i dug him up and found the soil around the roots to be very dry considering i watered it loads yesterday and its bee very wet here anyway. I removed 30-40% of the dry soil and pushed my fingers through a few times. Dunked it many time in water and then left it in water for 1/2 hour. I loosened the soil in the hole and added some stones then replanted.I notice water runs away from it as its on a slight hill so i burried a pot 1/2 the depth of the roots in front. i trimmed the flowers down to the next leaf node but left the dead looking leaves on as they still seem moist.

i assume once out ill just gently separate roots from the ball, removing soil.
i will loosen all soil in hole, put in and water again.
Any other tips??????
These things happen Rich.
