Hello , looks like what we started with

My best advise is do a section at a time , in fact we did it in 2 halfs

All the people on our site who try and do it all in one go end up giving up

I have found this a good forum for practical advise image

  • Thanks

I was also thinking along the same lines.

Brush cut it all and cover half with horse manure and cover with plastic and leave.

Then start working on the other half. It will take me a while to get rid of all the glass. Here is about half of the dead conifers that were dumped at the front.

    Are you allowed fires ?

We can , any day  if you use a fire dustbin

I burnt loads of rotten wood and dug the ash in , in fact I am on my second fire bin , I have now created a special area just for burning

  • Yep fires allowed. Was planning a bonfire for Nov 5. Cousin has a generaator and some lights. Get the BBQ down for some homemade sausage et al   image

Hello , just got back from allotment , lots done

Just wondered how you are getting on ?image

  • Phew 6hrs today and my body is broken. Dug out three angle irons that were a little deep. Dug up a couple of small tree roots.

Got lots of nettle stings. Had a fight with several hawthorns trees!! The last chap had run a hosepipe to the allotment from the tap that is 75m away but it was sort of in the trees, but it is now on the ground

Picked up about 20kgs of glass from an old greenhouse and did lots of brushcutting.

Laid down4m x 25m black plastic. I need to try and get another one before I go on my hols next Sat. Slowly slowly catchie monky.

One chap from two allotments came and introduced himself. Got talking and I mentioned I was going to grow some Comfrey. He asked me what type (not sure if it was a test or not)!! When I said Blocking 14 he said he had some and would take cuttings for me = result.

    What did you get done?

That's a helluva project Robin. You've grafted hard and the improvement is tremendous already.

It'll be terrific to start reaping the benefits once you start on the nice stuff  image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
