I've just made my first ever online purchases of plants. I bought from Crocus and from RHS.
I've taken delivery of RHS and am VERY dissatisfied.
The delivery note clearly said 1 of 2 boxes but only 1 was delivered. The delivery company said one was refused because it was delivered to them damaged.
The box that was delivered had the delivery items for everything I ordered so I had to sort through to figure what I'd got and what was awaited. The labels in the plants had fallen out so it's not clear what's what! 8 out of the 10 plants are snapped! 1 has yellowing wilted leaves!
So I phoned the number on their delivery note to let them know they'd messed up. Wrong number! So I phoned another number they gave me. Wrong number! I phoned another number they gave me and got back to the previous number which is "overspill calls when they're busy" so back again to the wrong number! Left a message. Sent an email.
Got a phone call and got told one box damaged but we don’t do next day (even when we messed up) so you’ll have to wait again!
We don’t have any of the snapped plants left in stock so you’ll have to order different ones and wait again.
They told me specifically what I could order as replacement and said though they were dearer they'd pay the difference... whoopey do!
In order to get your money back you’ve to return all the plants you got from us in the original packaging.
You have to cut the packaging to open it! I disposed of it all yesterday!
Suffice it to say I’ll be getting pack to them to tell them what I think and I won’t ever buy from them again.
It was in trying to find their customer review site that I stumbled across here. They don’t even have facility for customer reviews. I wonder why that is! NOT!
I wanted to go back to edit my first post but can't? Is there a time limit for being able to do that??
Anyway I've just now received a much more appropriate and acceptable response from RHS. They're replacing all my plants with a new delivery that will be here tomorrow morning.
I sent photos of unsatisfactory plants and last years plants which were wrong variety, I usually take the flowers off new plants to let their roots get nicely settled in and strong, so could not see till this year what they were like.
all refunded and money back, but not sure I would order from Crocus again. The plants I hHave bought from Waitrose the shop have performed well, not that one can go wrong with begonias and pelagoniums.
capel Manor Enfield has loads of nurseries and competition means reasonable prices
Three years ago ordered a collection of Echinaceas from Daily telegraph, they were delivered from Crocus!
They were total rubbish, sodden wet compost and the so called plants were slime.
When I complained about the plants and whoever had selected and sent them out, no reply but another lot arrived under the banner of the RHS this time!
Again the same quality of plants and pots, so they must be the same supplier.
After a lot of trouble I got some money returned, not it all but some, after another try some more but not the carriage, but in the end they refunded that as well!
I wrote to The DT and to Crocus about the rubbish they supplied and was this quality they supplied to the Chelsea lot I bet not!
I never expected or received a reply from either!
So DT RHS and Crocus are no nos in my eyes, no mater what excellent service others have had!

I ordered from the RHS early this year - very expensive but the plants were well boxed and in good condition.

..the RHS uses Crocus to send out their plants... you'll find this in the 'small print' on the website.. the difference is in the 'offers' available..
...perhaps call Crocus direct and see if you can discuss it with them..

I'm a happier bunny
darn it... you're all too quick here and I missed the opportunity.
Though I guess it does have the advantage of stopping people rewriting history like happens in some forums.

Take a look at the thread called Good Guys. people have posted their experiences good and bad with a whole variety of on line suppliers.
