geranium budworm

Any  one else had problems with this. Ruining my plants this year. Only control i,ve found is to hand pick them over every day. Those in the greenhouse that is.

Are you in the USA? Only this does not seem to be a pest generally of them in Britain.

These are in my greenhouse. The buds have tiny round holes in them and inside is a small green caterpillar. It eats itself out of the bud and as itgrows it starts to eat the leaves. Thus spoiling the buds and leaves. You will see copious amounts of catterpillar droppings to. My out side geraniums, hardy, are ok and have cut them down for another flush of leaf and flowers.

Mine get green caterpillars on them, never seen brown ones though, can you ese some sort of spray if they are in the greenhouse. SB is a bio one.

Be careful with insecticides on Pelargoniums, many of them warn against using them on those plants as they are toxic to the genus.
