How do I get rid of Ivy from the rockery?

Hi, can anyone please give me a solution as to how I can get rid of ivy that is growing through my rockery, it is killing off the plants I wish to grow there and it is rooting all over the place, even in the lawn. Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

Hi everyone and thanks for your suggestions. Sorry its taken so long to post back on this one, doesn't time fly?! The Ivy is still there and I am ready to tackle getting rid of it once again. I shall let you know what success I have - if any.
