Rain? In the Lake District? image

We moved from the Lake District to the other side of the pennines.   Still north and in the borders.    It's much colder over here but we don't have persistent rain each and every day!    Indeed we have an exceptionally low rainfall.... lower than the average and because we're in the cheviot north east foothills.   Having said that, it rained most of the day yesterday.   Dry and a bright blue sky today though it is only 12 c.

Tried purple loosestrife, it drowned, so did bamboo and willow.

Iris (yellow flag) grow freely as do nettles and buttercup. It would be nice to have more colour and variety.

We've had the opposite problem in Dordogne, doomed from the heat (mid 30s in the shade) and lack of rain, lawn looks dead - maybe it is. Even the sunflowers in the fields have been drooping. At last it has rained and is cooler. Hope it rains some more.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Cool and gloomy again today. Looks like rain again. Come on Summer!

Gonna have to build large containers for trees n shrubs, from old doors and wood found in leanto shed. Never done before maybe too much for me but can try.
