Help with identity please

This is growing in my neighbours garden but is sending out rhizomes nearly everywhere in my garden, some at 4m long. I'm unsure what it is but thinking it could be a kind of knotweed. Any suggestions?

    Click on the little green tree icon at the top of the posing box.

    Wont work on iphones.

    Ah yes I see it now. I was using my iphone and there isn't an option on there for adding pictures.  This has grown over 7' in a few weeks.

    Not saying for sure, but it does look like Japanese knotweed.

    I'm hoping that it isn't Japanese knotweed as my neighbour is cultivating it and I heard him calling it his beanstalk the other day.

    I can't get very close to see flecks as my neighbour is an odd character. I was thinking it more resembled the leaves on a giant knotweed plant. Thanks for the website link, that could be vey helpful.

    Hard to tell from photos but it doesn't look quite right for Japanese Knotweed to me.  jk leaves are not so thin and long.
