Artjak - 'open freeze' just means to spread them on a tray instead of just putting them straight in a bag. Simply so they don't stick together in a large clump. They can be bagged up once frozen.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Grew the white ones this year and there's a huge crop from 3 plants. Tastes really good, and a very thin skin on them. I think I rather them to the green ones, also have apple cucumbers plants - in flower at the mo but no fruit yet
Thanks Lily, don't know how I missed it . I am going to try to make the vinegar for to go with goats cheese and the marmalade as well, not much else to do on a wet sunday !! Great recipes
Today I have finished making some Bengal chutney with some of the purple gooseberries and finished putting all the labels on the jellies and jams and marmalades. Have had to reorganise my cupboards to accommodate them all and haven't yet started harvesting blackberries or toms or chilies. Yikes!
I have 3kilos of cooked apples straining to make mint jelly and might do some with rosemary. Off out to dead head hostas now and get some late afternoon sun.

Pansyface, that is useful knowing that it re-heats well! Haven't made it yet; am still crazy about courgette and herb rissotto.
Made 'Pizzetta' with the first Gardener's Delight Toms.
Heat oven to 200
Cut a sheet of puff pastry in half, place on floured baking tray, 1cm in from the edge of the pastry score with knife, but not all the way through.
Smear Dijon mustard on within the score lines and then place toms cut side up all over within the lines add some shavings of parmesan and a little olive oil. If toms are very sharp tasting add a tiny bit of sugar. Salt and pepper then bake for 15 to 20 mins. Can be re-heated.

Hi All,
Has anyone a recipe for pickling cucumbers.
Grew the white ones this year and there's a huge crop from 3 plants. Tastes really good, and a very thin skin on them. I think I rather them to the green ones, also have apple cucumbers plants - in flower at the mo but no fruit yet
Thanks
Linda Taylor 2 put a recipe on page 1 of this thread, might be what you are looking for.
