Nice to see this flowering again, it's one I got in memory of a young colleague who had a fatal RTA a few years ago so it's always special.

FG, I buy many of my plants for sentimental reasons, I have recently bought penstemon garnet simply because it was my sons fave teachers name, and a day Lilly with similar name to someone who was a very helpful professional I met. I even have an altroemeria which reminds me of you ( sorry if that sounds freaky, its only because you suggested it), and a choisia which verd rec.

Sometimes come unstuck though when plant name doesn't suit the garden or gardeners ability! (where on earth did that phrase come from!)

MrsG it's alovely idea- I'm very flattered that you bought something I suggested- I hope it doesn't die on you now or take over the garden !

I used to buy a plant on the girls' birthdays when they were little.

FG - it was looking over KEF's poppy that I spotted you.

Mrs G - great pics.  Is the second to last a rudbeckia ?  Loving those colours !!

I have a clematis with eldest daughter's name - so youngest is most put out.  But have googled and can't find anything with her name in it apart from an apple tree - which might look a bit odd in my borders.  Maybe I should extend my mini-orchard.

And I have plenty of chick-weed, so that's me covered.

Lovely colours Mrs. G. I buy plants when on holiday in England to remind me.

My garden is looking end of summerish, but at least the veggie garden is producing. Loads of French beans, but poor runners as it has been very hot - in the 30s. Cooler now so perhaps the flowers won't drop off.

Lizzie - good to have you back.  Hope you had a lovely time with all the family.  Your garden is looking gorgeous again - love those heleniums and the perovskia.  How many helenium plants do you have to make a clump that size ?

And a PS to my last post - I forgot OH's hostas - Big Daddy !  (fathers day gift from many years ago)

Thank you Chicky. Lovely, but tiring.

I'm too mean, or perhaps not well off enough, to buy more than one at a time. It's a bit of a waiting game. That was 1 tall yellow one about 7 years ago, then 1 Moorheim Beauty about 5 years ago, then one behind that which is only 2 and not quite out yet, forgotten it's name but I think the label is still there. But as soon as they get going I split them and spread them out a bit more. This spring the yellow one was big enough to go in another bed too.
