    Hi Birdy,

The price for the pots in this instance are terracotta multi hole planters.

I have this Clematis in my garden. We bought it as a Vyvyan Pennell (for the double flower) One thing's for sure - it isn't a Vyvyan Pennell. Quite like it though but does anyone know what it really is?

     Possibly Lincoln Star?

I'll post it on 'Summer has arrived' section as well in event Marion @ Bristol Botanics may know. John H

Talking of clematis - I have a lovely young C. Montana - Broughton Star doing well.

I planted it last year when it was barely a 2ft tall stalk, but with glossy healthy side leaves. It is now clearly very happy! image

Now around 7 ft tall and looking very pretty in its 'youthful days' I want to encourage more bushing out lower down to get a spread of flowers there ... and I also need to keep it from reaching the top of the wall. image

(When we had mice imagein our loft space a few years back we were advised by the Pest Control guy that its' having climbers against house walls that enable the mice to invade.)

So I wonder whether it would be effective to keep cutting off the vigorous shoots coming out everywhere (except the lower bit, unfortunately)? Does anyone have any experienced advice on this, please?

I'll try to get a phot out in text post. (!!!!)

    That's really lovely gardeningfantic.

Is it fairly hardy? I note you're a bit further south than I am.
