forester i didnt know that would grow well outside i hope it survives the winter for you it is lovely. like to look at other gaardens on here they are all so differant and inspiring
It's lovely to look at these pix especially as we're waving goodbye to summer's blooms. Would some fleece etc help overwinter that plant Forester? I'm sure someone here will be able to advise you about it. Leadf - your garden always looks great!
My Etoile Violette is flowering again and looking really pretty. I'm quite annoyed because I want to get it into it's permanent home in the new raised bed!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Love your garden, especially the patio, Lead Farmer. How do you get your clematis to grow so bushy? Mine flower nicely but are very spindly/leggy. I do cut them down in Spring according to type, but maybe I have to feed them more? If so, what?
Verd -my EV is in a ridiculously small pot as I had nothing else at the time but it has been well fed and watered and the roots shaded in that hot weather by other plants. I might even get it in today as it has miraculously cleared up - hurray!!

All I do is cut them back quite hard each spring. But to be honest I didn't get around to cutting them this year, I just left them. I do sprinkle clematis pellet feed onto the soil around each plant, which probably helps. Make sure they are planted very deep.

I was given this clematis, which I think is Etoile Violette. It flowers in July but doesn't do it again. Is this EV?
