Not long in so catching up. Birdy re your clematis comments - I didn't take it out - I moved house!! I've moved umpteen times in the last 3 and a half years for reasons I won't go into - but I've had allsorts of sizes and challenges in the gardens I've had. Last house had nearly 2 acres - a lot of it grass - and was overrun with rabbits and very neglected, especially the big pond and it's surroundings. I've only been in this house a few months and there's not much in it apart from gravel, slabs and fences! Virtually everything is in pots for now as I need to extend so it's a blank canvas. Not sure how long I'll stay here as I find it too noisy but I'll leave my mark- good or bad!

It's all a learning curve isn't it Birdy? Gardens and life image

I wish you lots of luck - I understand how hard it must be for you. There's lots of good people here who are always willing to offer advice and when the weather's duff.......cake..virtual only I'm afraid!! image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Gardening F, sadly I don't have space for Wegelia.image I think they grow to about 2 or 3 m tall and wide.

Fairy G, I think that being a parent, a worker, AND taking on another new garden means you deserve a new wand.image

Fairy I imagined you'd had your garden ages and the post were another project,. I so wish you well and hope you find a place that you can stay. I admire you re-starts, I cried when I left my last garden.

Just looked at your gorgeous garden Berghill - I had no idea there were so many different geums !  And your pond is lovely, as are the hostas, and the peonies, and I could go on !

FG, your borders are really coming along - very satisfying when you are working with a blank canvas - you can make such big changes so quickly.

Dean - love your collection of pots - looks like a grotto

MrsGarden - what a pair !  You must be very proudimageimage

Yes, it's a great forum, Very friendly too, and I  do like cake, and therefore the idea of cake (which I suppose is virtual cake). Luckily, I've found I can bake:

I justify its inclusion in the forum because I like eating cake (or anything with a cup of tea)  in the garden. It helps me appreciate all the good things around me.

Berghill, you have a wonderful garden. It didn't get like that all by itself, it had a wonderful gardener.

Birdy, you put it all so well in your summing up.

Mrs. Garden, cannas aren't hardy. You have to put them in a frost free place in winter. Good thing your lovely son is hardy!

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
