They all disappear within the hour here Verdun. Birds catch them in mid air, love to watch that so couldn't poison them in case the birds were poisoned as well

I know what you mean Verdun - one summer at work our office was invaded - there was a problem where the floor met the walls and the ants found their way in - when we turned up at work on the Monday after a hot and sunny weekend the windows were black with ants  We had to work from home while they were 'dealt with'.

Otherwise I leave them alone - around here it's usually the seagulls who are wheeling in the sky hoovering them up.  Think they do it the same way as the whales hoover up plankton - mouth open and move forward image

Verdun we get them (SAD FACE), ONE day a year usually end of this month and they are a pain. Last year I left dining room window on breathing hole and needed vacuum nozzle to suck the off the inside of the window.

First year I encountered them I went out with hose on mist and sprayed them but still ended up with a barnet full of them. (Green face smiley !!! ) Not as bad as lily beetles lol x

I try and work on the principle that anything in the garden has a right to live or get dealt with by nature but once it steps in over the doorstep it is a goner!

Katherine, haven't you ever seen the Dolphins in Cornwall jumping for the flying ants?

    Spectacular sight!

I thought you'd had an invasion of grockles. Maybe they're still stuck on the  M5image
