Rose leaf damage

dgunedgune Posts: 6

hello,

One of my Roses which is a climber has got extensive leaf damage.

I am not sure what caused it and cannot see any caterpillar. I have used insecticide few times with no effect what so ever.

This has affected a nearby another Bush rose, Golden yellow but not to this degree may be it has lesser number of leaves.

any help welcome!

Thank you

Yes, leaf cutting bee - we get them around here - lucky you!  They're wonderful.

We found lots of their little nests in rotten beams in my studio roof, each one lined with sections of my Graham Thomas rose that grew over the studio walls image  Magical image

Too late, OP has sprayed them!

Why do people use insecticide as a first resort, when they don't even know what they're spraying against image

It's taken a few chunks out of some leaves - it'll grow some more image

  • One of my rose bushes is playing host to Leaf Cutter Bees-one bush has lots of holy leaves, but other nearby bushes aren't affected. Is there any reason that anyone knows of as to why they seem to go for one bush and not the next??

I too am very happy that they have picked my Rose bush!!image

I think you probably have to be a Leaf Cutter Bee to know that image

image It's probably quite a nice life - as long as you and your food don't get sprayed...
