I wonder if you'd be able to get one to germinate?
As it floats, I'm veering towards Entada species for the original posting.
While searching for the original posters seed., I managed to identify my weird seed as
Dry fruit of Heritiera littoralis (Sterculiaceae), also known as puzzle fruit: An Asian tree of mud flats and river deltas.
I've had it for years not knowing what it was, I just like the shape.

If that 50p coin came out of that seed pod, it must be from the money tree i've been looking for all these years!! Lucky you, can I have a cutting please?
