Surely if they are still there and causing pain after a year then she should be going to see a doctor! I'm surprised she hasn't been already?

  • She has , twice, but they don't seem to know what to do , she lives in norway hence not knowing the English name of the plant , any idea how I post a photo on here ?

Are you looking for the name of the plant or help for the thorns stuck in your auntie's fingers? I am confused!

Mariaklocka is campanula medium, canterbury bells, and has no thorns. Something does not add up, here. image

  • I'm looking for both the name and help maybe someone else has experience like this ?
  • Thanks Katherine and pansy face I feel like I havf something to go on , yes I think spines is a better word than thorns
  • Not sure it can be exema there's no rash. The problem is the the tiny thorn-like "hairs" from the stems that embedded themselves in ??se's fingers when she dead-headed the flowers. She removed hundreds of them, only to find even more, further down in the tissues, encapsulated in the skin. She removes as many as she can reach, removing layers of skin with them, since they are enclosed inside the tissues. There's a lot of bleeding, sometimes the fingers are slightly infected (throbbing) and she has to leave them to heal before starting again on the next layer. Hence the need (after a year!) to see a plastic surgeon.
  • magnesium sulphate will draw any thorns left in the skin, it sounds like it could be infected, she will probably need a course of antibiotics.

Jeez, it sounds terrible! I suppose there must be some kind of personal sensitivity, because I never heard of such a thing... the only thing in my experience that comes anywhere close is ants bites lasting for months, but this is different.

I could only very tentatively suggest the herbal remedy for "extracting" foreing bodies from the tissues, i.e. plantain (plantago sp) compresses, baths, washes etc. Also pine resin.

But then if there is a personal sensitivity, she might react strangely also the herbal medication, so I don't know.

  • Yes it's really horrible for her , I read about magnesium sulphate so ive passed that on to her , thanks a million for taking the time to write everyone
