The climate is constantly changing and there was a mini ice age in the 1600s. The plague of 1348 followed a period of bad weather that caused harvest failure and famine, weakening the population. The question we need to address now is this. Is the present warming of the sea and consequent thawing of the polar ice caps due to human activity or is it all part of the natural cycle? Are humans part of the natural cycle? We ought to be but we are a pretty destructive species.

I agree and disagree, climate change is happening, but the fact is it always has! Don't hear anyone complaining that the iceage is over? Good luck trying to garden in those conditions!

Forget climate change the new word on the street is that the earth is entering a new extinction phase that could wipe out all human life it is official it was in the daily mirror.

I remember the drought in1976 and one year in the 60s when the snow didn't melt in London for weeks . And then there was that time when it snowed in late May. Yes, the climate changes all the time.

    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • I always expect to read sensible gardening comment from you Verdun. Stick to what you know!

I like to have a good rant about all kinds of topics but unless it's about gardening not in public!

Yes there is a huge 'industry' of grants and vested interests in both directions and things are not clear cut but the potential dangers of climate change are too big to ignore
