I have tried this method in the past and am now having to use it on my honeysuckle (lonicera) and Acer tree sapling, the varigated variety. The ants are feeding off them at the moment, I don't know whether they are doing my plant good, but Ive sprayed the lot. Anyone else got any ideas, I'd be grateful.\
Blast with a hose, if you spray you're killing beneficial insects that predate these aphids & bees. If anything do it at night, as in direct sunlight you're risking leaf scorch too.

OOPs Mark, I have done just that!! The leaves are scorched, but new growth thankfully is coming through. Will they withstand the force of a hosepipe?
Thanks for your advice so far.

They should do, do you have an attachment to the hose so you can control the force?
