Many thanks for flagging this up .... I wasn't aware that it's use was illegal. Hopefully the application currently being considered will make it through.
I first started using neem when I read an article by Carol Klein suggesting it ... and also using epsom salts as a plant tonic (which probably also hasn't been approved for gardening purposes either!)
Gardener and beekeeper in beautiful Scottish Borders
A single bee creates just one twelfth of a teaspoon of honey in her lifetime
I was researching Neem oil yesterday and found myself on a website where a large number of "chilled out" people was discussing how effective Neem oil is on their cannabis plants! I found this very amusing (not being into this type of thing myself!),especially when one Neem oil user said that it had also worked a treat on his Fushcias!
Can't beat ladybirds but more importantly their larvae, scoff the lot . Lacewing larvae are very good too. You can bring some into your garden by buying them from green gardner but once introduced don't spray and they'll do their stuff, grow, breed and start to make their home in your garden - minimal aphids ! (Need some, so they have some food of course, but they soon get rid)
Another bug bear is the red clover mite/spider the ones that when you squish them they leave a red stain, has anyone any ideas how to deal with these around windows and doors?

I meant "were discussing" not "was discussing"
so what is the best way to get rid of aphids ,ive tried hosing them rubbing them off but they reappear a little later

Lots of aphids in my garden also massive ants nest, which to see to first?
We are infested with blackfly this year, I spray with a solution of water plus a squirt of fairy liquid, that does the trick !
