Firecracker Did you have to travel very far to get biskit? We live in Redditch so Shropshire was quite a distance, especially when we see them 2or3 times.
Scigib. How old are your dogs and where did you get them?
They are all rescues from a centre in Wales called Many Tears.
Jack is my oldest Lab he was rescued by a vet who refused to euthanise him at the age of 5 months. He was transferred to MTAnimal Rescue and he was my 6th foster dog. (All puppy mill cast offs). Jack was 5.5 months old and had never been on grass. He still doesn't like it. I think I knew he was mine when he got of the van at Chievely, sooo scared. He is seven now.
Paddy was found abandoned on a Welsh mountain by some hikers he was 10 weeks old. He is my disabled boy(all four legs by dysplasia) since he was 9 months old, He is 5 now.
Barney the setter was found in a shed in a cage in Ireland along with four other puppies aged 4.5 months but only two were still alive, Barney and his sister Luna. He weighed 11lbs when I got him. He was transferred to Wales from Ireland as the irish don't really rescue dogs and most come here He is 6 now. If he was a Human he would be a member of Mensa. Jack and Paddy are dim but nice.
Scigib, it's sad when dogs are treated that way, but it's nice to know there's people like you.I know about Ireland not rescuing dogs, we take ours obedience dog training and the dog trainer is a dog warden he told us about Ireland. Know a few people who have rescued dogs and about the conditions they were in.So what sort of things do your's get up to? I guess you must live in Wales of close.
I actually live in Portsmouth. MTAR does a weekly run along the M4 to facilitate the distribution of dogs to be fostered to the large group of foster homes around the UK. Some travel from as far as Newcastle to pick up dogs that have been used as puppy production machines. The majority of dogs they have a puppy mill bitches, they do also take sick or malformed puppies without life threatening conditions. e.g. blind, deaf or swimmer puppies.
Scigib , Oh I see, the dogs trust not far from here and some smaller rescues around here.Must be nice down there. One of our dogs willow had hip displacia, he was about 4 months old when we found out, he dislocated his hip the specialist told us to take him swimming to build up his muscles, he lived to13 until he had kidney failure. Barley when he was 6 months he had elbow displacia, he had to have the cartilage trimmed but he's OK now.Do your's go on the beach? Ours not been to a
Paddy has hip and elbow dysplasia. Elbows operated on when he was 11 months old. He is now 5 but his joints are deteriorating. Sadly because it is all 4 joints there isn't much to be done but at the mo he is happy and can still get out and about even if it is Tramadol that helps. He loves swimming and we go to West Wittering to swim as it is graduated and sand. Rather than Pompey which is stones and seaweed.
Scigib, at least you've given him a better life and is happy. West wittering sounds nice how often do you go? We had to game willow to a swimming pool.
