The plant is a Euphorbia (spurge) It is poisonous - then so are daffodil bulbs - and its milky sap or latex is a skin and eye irritant. Treated carefully it should be fine. Always wear gloves if you have to handle it at all.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Euphorbia characias, possibly my favourite garden plant. It isn't actually dangerous, I've handled it a lot including getting sap on me (promptly washed off) and never really noticed any irritation. Some people are more prone to it, but it's an irritant, rather than something that'll make you drop dead. Treat the milky sap with respect but there's no need to be paranoid.
They can be fussy about being moved, when they are mature. The roots are just a bit wimpy. You'll have to do so extremely carefully, and soak the plant well while it recovers, or wait until it produces seedlings, and move them while they're still small.

By the way, I didn't have the slightest idea what either of those plants were either.
Birdy's right Nicky, if you want to gain knowledge this is a great place. Everyone who comes on here learns new stuff every day I'm sure, the world of plants and gardening is just vast.

Love this plant! I had a beautiful patch of it for years, then one winter it just died on me. I keep meaning to replant it. Just use gloves when handling.
I love this plant to but sadly it hasn't coped with our cold winters so not replaced it.
re it being poisonous I had it at the back if the border against the grey wall and it looked super. Come to think of it I might try again it looks so fresh!
