    Hi Verdun

yeah I can see where what began as a passion could get thorny. I like gardens that have room to grow drifts of the same thing. What area are you? Did you get to meet others selling too?

Ah pretty Cornwall. Funny,I  just bought a argyranthemum its dainty and colourful. to me it's a bit like a meadow flower; delicate,  and such a nice splash of colour( purple with yellow centre).  The roots smelled so enticing as I was potting it up, but the flowers- nothing! If 'I' were a bug I'd go for them.

The two nurseries that I mentioned are a lot smaller than wonkywobble mentions but have some interesting plants

Landlubber, Abercorns is still there but I find them quite expensive.  I prefer BHN in Rettendon or Perrywoods near Tiptree, they have a lovely coffee shop.

  • I also like the small GCs, as has already been said, you often find really unusual varieties of plants. We have a small privately owned treasure on the edge of St. Austell, Pengelly's, where delicious things can be found. The Duchey of Cornwall GC  in Lostwithiel also carry a good range. Sadly their fuschia specialist has retired so they no longer have a large span greenhouse full of unique fuschias, just a few bog standard varieties which you can buy anywhere, including Aldi and Lidl. Such a shame. I always investigate their reduced price area, have found some real gems, a bit tatty maybe, but still rescueable.
