VERY large plant nurseries

BreatheBreathe Posts: 114

I've had a lot of pleasure from attending  nurseries of around 5 acres or less, such as Wyevale near Harrow and Neals near Wandsworth Prison and another at Chigwell, but on revisiting I feel I'd like even MORE choice.( I have the helpful tip of finding out when delivery day is in a season) Has anyone visited a very large place within M25 or say south East England?

Some of the tiny out of the way nurseries seem to have a better selection than the big GCs, in my experience. Especially herbaceous stuff. Plus the staff/owners are usually genuine enthusiasts!

Th bigger the establishment the more room for more of the same plants. I like a plant fair where small specialist nurseries sell plants

I attended a plant fair but I felt I enjoyed Nurseries more. My bugbear is getting 'em home without damage as I go on public transport- distance-wise I'm always in THE most EXPENSIVE charge band! I don't really like my local place- one visit nothing appealed. I think the trick might be to do more than one in a visit.

That's interesting Verdun, I was wondering about whether there was a network of enthusiasts that sold from home. Bet it's hard to keep it from engulfing other area of life.

I don't want to replicate every hanging basket in my area, I usually wander until something catches my eye and makes me theirs!
