my Lupins have been attacked by aphids and wilted it is their first year if I cut them down will they come back next year?

Yes they should do. Mine don't have aphids yet but snails are a problem. Lupins seem to be very tasty to various creatures, pity we can't eat them!
It's why I don't grow them any more - too much slug and snail activity just when they poke their heads above ground

Thankfully the Lupins I have in the garden are big enough to cope with Greenfly. Give them a brush off if they get too thick. The Seedlings im Growing can stay indoors until the autumn and hopefully miss the worst of the pests.

Lupin aphids are bigger than normal greenfly, they're a different variety. Thye are fat and tough-looking, almost as bad as the Willow Aphid, which is quite revolting.
Could anyone tell me if he old trick of thinly diluted washing up liquid does the trick on these aphids please? I use that method on my roses but hadn't tried it on the lupins, but I've noticed they are getting munched here and there!
