Manure

I have been offered a quantity of horse manure which is mixed with wood chippings and shavings rather than straw,I have been told not to use this as it takes the nitrogen from the soil to break down the wood. Is this correct please?

I'd guess the proportion of wood shavings to manure will have no detrimental effects on the soil. If you don't want it, I'll have it. image
