Senetti

Has anyone had any trouble overwintering senetti?  I wanted them because they flower April to June ish but a local nursery has just told me that they've never been able to overwinter them.

I have been bought two this year and I was going to try and overwinter them so I would be keen to see if anyone else has.

They are not hardy, but should survive if treated as half hardy.

I'm not impressed by them, bought 2 a couple of years ago..they did flower like billyo but then just sat there the rest of summer. I prefer pelargoniums or fushias.

Ok, I think I'll delay the problem since their flowering season is presumably nearly over and buy some at the beginning of next year, see how they do and then pop them in the garage over winter.  Thanks everyone.

Ok, sounds like senetti aren't going to fill in the gap that I wanted i.e. another vivid colour perennial flowering from April to June.  Better to know before buying image

Yes, I've got and love astilbes Verdun.  Mingled amongst my hostas and also in the same border as a couple of Queen Victoria Lobelias - a white one which looks lovely with the dark foliage and red flowers of the lobelias.  And although my OH doesn't know yet, I'm waiting for another 3 to arrive in the post!!!  I'll slip them in the garden before he gets home from workimage

What I'm actually looking for is something to replace tulips but also will flower just during the months between April and about end of June.  I've already got anemones, ranunculus, sweet william, vinca, bellis but just wanted a couple more plants for containers in a certain area in the garden.
