Shrivelled and dry mail order plants?

Louise BLouise B Posts: 81
Hello, I ordered some plants online and they came today - dried out and wilted. I've watered them and they might perk up but I don't know if I should have a tantrum about it with the company. I paid ??5 per 9cm plant if I remember correctly. Here is a pic: CLICK

Which company was it Louise.  Some are good at responding and replacing others are not.

Stand them in a tray of water, perennials usually pick up.

It was Gardens4you that I bought them from. I've sent them some pics, thanks.

Just out of interest, what were they supposed to be?

It's a hard plant to kill! Give them some water and plant them where the soil is a bit damp and they will be fine. Some of mine were left on the soil surface over winter through ice and snow, planted in spring, and are flowering just beautifully now. Doesn't mind a bit of shade, it's a wild plant really, grows well in damp grass.

They should have been better packed so they arrived looking better, depends if you want the hassle as you should be ok this time. I would think twice about ordering from them again though.

I have already complained because I didn't want them to think I'd left them to dry out if I did it later. I'll see what they say.

I've looked at them through the window and the tops look a bit perkier but the lower half is still sad and yellow in places.

My reasoning seems to be that if I was at the garden centre, i wouldn't pay six pounds (I checked) for plants of this size and this quality.

Their expert said plant them out and offered me 40% refund. If they do grow then I guess that's a suitable arrangement so I'm quite happy.
