When should Echinops surface?

bought roots of this plant and planted early spring. When should I expect to see the shoots appear? Thanks

    Mine's been up in Sheffield for quite a few weeks now. Did you plant direct into soil or into a pot to grow on?

    I think those roots have sometimes been too dry for too long. They need a good soak and some mollycoddling to bring them round

    These I grew from seed but if I do get any bare root plants I always start them off in pots and keep in the greenhouse. The slugs like the new shoots so maybe thats why you lost  them. Or, as others say, you do need  to keep them damp to start with.
