Garden newbie: help with weed.

Hi guys. New to gardening and need some help.

When end I moved into my new house there was a patch of weird that was very clover like about 2m square in the one corner of the grass. It had also appeared in patches on the patio.

Can an anyone tell me what it is and how to deal with it. Pictures below.

Thank you you in advance.

No pic leon, but from your description it could be oxalis. To post a pic click on the green tree icon and someone will know.

I totally dug out the top 6 inches of turf and soil in the whole garden as I had to level it.

I also rotivated the the earth and put a pre turf weed killer down.

The new turf has been done 4 weeks now and looks brilliant compared to the previous turf. But I have noticed a couple of new weeds sprouting in the border (still deciding what to do with the border) and I want to make sure that it does not take a hold in the grass again.

my first though was oxalis, then helxine, but neither of those.

I have an annual weed that looks like that but unfortunately I've never IDd it.

I'll put some effort into it. Maybe someone else will ID it for both of us

I have managed to get some close ups of the same stuff out the front which I also need to deal with. Not sure if it helps.

I actually have a soft spot for it!

Feed'n'weed will probably remove it from your lawn; elsewhere it's easy enough to lift away in mats. (Personally I think it looks nice but you need to keep it in check).

Brilliant. Thanks for helping identify it.

it really has got out of control next door and I want to make sure it stays out of our garden.

    Any specific weed killer?
