Thanks for the information Claire. I've just emailed the contractor again and asked him for manufacturers details, receipt etc. I can only assume that if a single blade of grass can cut through it then it is unfit for purpose. I don't anticipate a reply lol. I think one of the main problems is that he didn't do the preparation he was supposed to do. There is a small area around the side where I removed the grass myself and it appears to be fine.
Lol. Your second message must have crossed with mine. Thanks for looking it up. Hope you don't have the same problems as there doesn't appear to be any easy fix as I don't use weed killers of any kind
Thanks for replies Landgirl and Ceres. No it doesn't tear easily, I had to cut a piece off with scissors but it does let single blades of grass through and he has left gaps all over the place. the work was only completed in April. Contractor just won't reply to my emails and tomrequests to him to remedy
Well the path has been down since January and no sign yet. There is a good 6" of bark on it though, so they'd have to be pretty determined little blighters!! No one to blame but myself, if it proves a problem, just seemed a shame to waste all the metres I had left over!!!!!!! Good luck!!
That's what I'm hoping to do Dave Morgan. I am just so annoyed that yet again it's an example of someone assuming that they can walk all over you and because you are retired and a woman on her own, you won't do anything about it. Thanks for answering
You go girl!! Stand up for yourself!! I used to get this in our local builders merchants, (because Im female, look young and I'm blonde) now, several concreting/fencing/manege building/welding projects later they all know me by name and if hubby goes to fetch anything they ask him what he's fetching for me!!!

Good luck with yours too Claire. The birds will enjoy the bark if nothing else lol.
Your 'Contractor' has simply lied to you. That would not suppress anything. Sue him through the small claims court.
