Dwarf bean germination

I have read that the germination rate for Dwarf Bean seeds can only be about 75%. So to increase the rate I chit my seeds between two damp sheets of kitchen paper and then pot up into 3" pots. Out of 30 seeds chitted 29 produced roots and carried on to the planting out stage and produced a good crop.

I am struggling to get my dwarf FB to germinate (climbers all came up within 3-4 days.) My dwarf ones were sown 10 days a go and no sign of any of them. So should I leave them in the light  on damp paper to chit?  How long might it take after that - I have left it very late. (Reminds me I need to plant my potatoes :o Pushing it a bit?!?)

I grow Annabell,I just pop one seed into   each section of one of those windows sill propogators, usually get over 90% germinate. Don't chit or do anything faffy

Wrap a piece of kitchen towel ( the paper kind) inside a glass jar, and dampen the towel.  Pop the seeds around the jar, in between the towel and the glass.  We have an almost 100% germination rate with peas and beans using this method.

We sit the jar on a north facing windowsill, making sure the towel is kept moist, but not soaking.  It's also important not to let any beans touch one another, as that increases the risk of mould.

It normally takes several days for germination to begin.

Growing FB Cupidon for the first time this year. Starting them off in modules indoor with a bit of bottom heat. Nothing yet after about 4 days. Time will tell.

Nothing faffy here either,  straight into root trainers,  I’m waiting on the last one of 16 to pop up,  100% on the runners, hopefully so on the small French beans.

Thanks. Yes the climbers were super quick. (Root trainers in a heated propogator.) Just the dwarfs that are tarrying. They are interesting varieties that I could not buy as plants, I think. (Particularly excited by the Yin Yang ones)

Another one has just popped up, no propagator, just on a spare work top.

When did you sow them, Lyn?
