Plant ID - Couple of Rogue Plants Inc Spanish/English Bluebell help

    It's not possible to tell from the photo what species of bluebell that is - post again when the flowers are open, including a closeup of the flower spike. Also note the colour of the stamens. The leaves are not very broad so there's a good chance that they are in fact Hyacinthoides non-scripta, English bluebell. Spanish bluebells are fine in gardens anyway, unless you are going to dump them in the countryside or you live right next door to a bluebell wood.

    I guess I used the word dangerous because of the insidious way the hybrid can spread its genes into the wild Bluebell gene pool. Spanish bluebells do have their own beauty, but our native Blubell has the unique strong scent and deep blue colour. This would be lost if hybridisation went uncontrolled. As we have a high percentage of the world's wild blubells here in Britain [and uniquely the bluebell wood habitat] I think we have a reponsibility to preserve them as the Chinese have with Pandas.
