After reading and commenting on this thread yesterday I have just had a very near miss
Bent over whilst weeding and forehead landed on the top of a cane broken in the winter wind fortunately just a superficial wound but it could have so nearly be an eye.
I suggest a thorough survey if areas about to be worked case of hazards!
Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.” A A Milne
If you use Danone Optimel or Yakult or similar save the little bottles, peel off the plastic wrap and use the bottles upside down on the ends of canes. If you don't like the look of them paint them with acrylic or house paint.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I once poked myself in the eye with the end of a branch while pruning at my late mum's house. Driving home was fun, as I could not open that eye. Some time later I had an eye test and ordered new glasses. When the glasses arrived the prescription was wrong. The eye was swelling! The optician found wood splinters in the eye. The same day at the local hospital a doctor scraped out the wood under a local anaesthetic. I could not see with that eye for days. So, take care with your eyes when doing any DIY or gardening.
My worst injury came from something seemingly innocent...
I was battling my nemesis, the creeping buttercup with a hand fork and felt nothing happen at all. A few hours later, it became apparent that I could barely grip with my dominant hand (this being an issue for surgery and also chopsticks!)
I managed to give myself a dose of tennis elbow that didn't clear for over six months.

What a super idea, thank you. Our village post office sadly is closing so I am sure I could scrounge be some.
thanks

Our poor dog is on lifetime pills for Addison's disease so I save all her little pill bottles for cane caps - they are brown and inconspicuous.

An update, I've just gone A over T in the garden whilst reversing with the mower. Ended up on my backside on the patio!
