dodo, don't worry if you grow cucumbers that are F1 hybrid it says so after the name you don't need to worry about removing male flowers, in fact most cucumbers these days don't need you to do that, I have grown quite a few varieties and haven't had to do that for years.
I'm growing a Telegraph Cucumber plant for my daughter (in the greenhouse) just bought it today. Reads "open pollinated" but I will remove any male flowers
Anyone any idea what size pot it should go in please? I can't stand to eat them and so have never grown before (but my daughter loves them)
This is all very confusing. Does anyone know any hard and fast rules about which cucumber types you should remove the male flowers.. and which you should leave them on? Do any need to be pollinated to produce a cuke? I'm growing about three different types this summer (but can't remember the types right now, will have to look at the packages when I get home).
Don't worry - cucumbers are really easy and you'll end up with far more that you can eat! You never need to leave the male flowers on as no varieties that I know of need to be pollinated.
I haven't come across the term "open pollinated" before but a quick google suggests that this is describing how the seeds in the packet were produced and is not referring to how the fruits will be produced.

OK thanks guys - does it need a big pot?
What size pot would you ultimately aim for, 8, 10, 12 inch or a small bucket like tomatoes plants?
Mine are greenhouse variety.
I grow my cumbers in the same size buckets as my toms
