Got 4 cucumber plants supposed to have only female flowers but there are male one's as well,do I just pinch them off or pollinate the females?

Do you know the variety name - that might give a clue

  • I think female cucumber plants do sometimes have the odd male flower, especially if they're stressed for some reason. You need to remove the male flowers and definitely don't use them to pollinate the female flowers. Pollinated cucumbers apparently taste very bitter.

Thanks Singing Gardener I will do that.
  • How do you tell the difference please.?

  • Female flowers have a little cucumber behind the flower, male ones don't

  • Thanks.

At the beginning of the season they may produce male flowers. They will soon grow out of it and with 4 plants you will have more than enough cucumbers.
