I've been gardening for ........... nearly 60 years and I'm still making mistakes - to steal a phrase, the gardener who never made a mistake never made anything
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Well, my first gardening memory is planting crocus bulbs near some gooseberry bushes at kindergarten when I was two and a half years old I've been gardenng ever since.

I remember we moved to the country from London when I was 4 and had a garden for the first time and helping my father dig the thick almost glutinous Essex clay. That was 1952. Oh the joy of picking peas and podding them and sneakily eating them! Greengages and blackcurrents, I can taste them now.
