    I remember we moved to the country from London when I was 4 and had a garden for the first time and helping my father dig the thick almost glutinous Essex clay. That was 1952. Oh the joy of picking peas and podding them and sneakily eating them! Greengages and blackcurrents, I can taste them now.image
