I washed all my pots this year before plantingimage

Mainly because I thought all you lot did and I was on a learning curve.  I'll know better next year.  I hated the job.

I don't warm the soil though it comes out of the shed and into the pots.

I'll also confess to not always soaking plants before putting them into the ground.  It depends how damp the garden is.  I always water them when they are planted though.

  • I confess I do wash some pots when I want to sit down but feel guiltyimage I get a bucket give them a swish then see how far I can toss them across the lawnimageimage so they air dry

Only I then have to pick them all up laterimage

Your finger s are the best judge whether something needs watering. If it feels cool and damp - leave it alone.
