I saw some posting or another about putting them in the dishwasher. All the crude on mine would block the drain.. plus, I'm lucky if the sink isn't already full of dirty dishes waiting for their turn!
I am going to sit down with a bucket of water in the summer when I can do it outside and wash all my pots! I have loads I found in my old shed when I moved them into my potting shed! They might stack better!!
That's the spirit.. get them washed months ahead of time.
I'm also the type that waters my potting soil AFTER sowing (into soil which just came directly in from the cold..) then the seeds float around to the top and I end up making a general mess of it (and my kitchen table).
Every year I promise to do different. Soil is warmed to room temperature, pots are filled the night before and stood in a container of water to soak up through, labels are ready and waiting, etc. Maybe next year.
Blue Onion, I have my seed compost in the shed which gets warm and I always water straight from the tap, so it is cold but I find it works just as well!!

My pots won't all stack in the shed if they aren't washed, so do them as they are emptied.

Tap them on the ground to knock out the snails and you're ready to go!
I did a huge planting job alongside the designer Fiona Laurenson ( where did she go? ) and most of the herbaceous stuff was in 9cm square pots.
I gathered them ,and their trays us by the hundreds and I still use them now and have never washed any of them.
