The garden was looking superb and I am dying to put lots of pics on the forum but it is up the creek.. I tried sending you a message on your setting but it is not accepting pics there either.
Now I've got it sorted out in my mind - the cowslip is called primula veris, and the primrose is called primula vulgaris. Seems a bit odd, but maybe it's just the cockeyed translation from Latin, same as sinister really meaning left as opposed to right, but we use it as wrong opposed to right.
So glad I don't have to learn English from the beginning!

Do you want to send to my email address [email protected]? if that would be easier? Thanks again...
Cath , I too have these, flowers but they were from a garden centre.Sorry haven't read rest of the posts.
We have agreed they are Primula veris - Marion has sent me photos of those at the botanical garden she visited....so beautiful!
The glitch in the uploading pics has been sorted so here they are at the Botanic Garden in the Hot Border, complete with their proper botanical name.

PS I do like your red primula veris!
Very pretty and lovely to see self seeded in the garden - nice to know it is happy!
