granma,if you go to the Post Office website , They used to have a scale of charges and the different categories, eg , small parcel, large parcel etc. I used to sell stuff on ebay and used it back then.
Consistency and continuity of supply or lack of it, is a particular bane. Finding the same pot design, with the same drainage in either round or square in smaller quantities is nigh on impossible. I haven't got the space for containers of higgly piggly pots and irrigation is more of a faff when there's a number of different drainage regines..
Berghill, I think Congleton were acquired by Desch, I seem to recall looking them up when I got a Meconopsis baileyii in a particularly good square pot with good drainage design and thought "I'll get myself some more of these" (the pots and the seeds).
LBS are a good supplier if you need bulk. They also have small square long toms, 9x9x14, 11x11x19, 11 x 11 x 21.5. I think they are Interplas. You should have looked for them in metric, professional horticulture has been metric for years, the major manufacturers (Interplast, Teku, Aeroplas, Desch Plantpak) work in metric, so you're going to find it harder to find a pot if you look in the old imperial. The bulk of their sales are to professional horticulture and agriculture.
One would have thought there would be an ebay seller of the better grade injection-moulded pots in smaller quantities (100s 50s) not everyone needs a palletload.
Some of the online suppliers are pretty bad too for pots.No model numbers I bought "100 strong teku square pots, what I received were lightweight pots I can crunch in my hand..Oh well, "strong" is open to interpretation buyer beware. If the supplier stated the material thickness and if the pots are injection moulded one could buy with more confidence.
my next door neighbour runs Penny's Primulas ,http://www.pennysprimulas.co.uk/ a nursery specialising in Asiatic Primulas. She sells me pots at cost price: bless'er.
Maybe contact a local nursery and ask if they might sell pots?
I'm sure even if the made a penny profit per pot, and you were a customer, they might consider it?
Try getting rid of them is my problem as I have 100s, 3" round and square stacked about 1m tall each of them, 4" both and have a similar number and I have even more 5" ones. It is not possible to re-cycle them anyone any suggestions as to what to do with them?
Wrightt, you could list them on Freegle, Freecycle or Gumtree. I was going to get rid of many of mine but when I took out all the odd ones I hardly had enough left.
Same problem! I have an old dustbin full of them, but as you say most are not recylceable. I reuse as many as possible after dunking them in Armillatox solution to sterilise them. Best try gardening schemes near you who might want them or as has been said Freecycle/Freegle.
definitley freecycle when i request them on freecycle they have always already gone, i went to two garden centres today to ask for used pots and they both said they recycle them.

Thanks hostafan ,
Gemma I have some spare I will root them out and send you the measurements I should be able to get quite a few in a padded envelope , shouldnt I ?
Are plant pots measured by the top across or the depth ?
There's a garden centre near me (York) that has a big box for people to exchange/ dump/ pick up pots. Or you could put a request on Freecycle.

Just a thought.

Thanks I will try this as I hate just throwing them away.
