Lilies in pots will respond to a handful of fertiliser such as Fish Blood and bone tickled into the top couple of inches, in Spring before they start growing. I find lilies in the ground get eaten by slugs as they emerge, bit lilies in pots are more likely to succumb to vine weevil, so if they look like they are getting weaker, tip them out and look for white larvae chewing the roots.

  • Than you Fidgetbones, I love lilies and after seeing all the photos, will try for longliflorum as well next year.

  • We had some rain in August, which was welcome, my lillies were just comming out mid July.   Sunday morning, 6am. it was 7.3 degrees, but within a couple of hours on the beach with Grandkids, it was really hot!  Cold mornings though!
