Not sure if you'd class it as exotic but I'm trying to grow black bamboo from seed. Not sure how successful I'll be as by many accounts, growing bamboo from seed can be very hit or miss.
I grow hedychium and cannas and brugmansias. The hedychium I originally grew from seed. I have banana seeds in a heated propagator, but no signs of life yet.
Not sure if this would be classed exotic either, but I put in some Venus Flytrap seeds at the weekend. I don't really think of North Carolina as exotic, but it is sub-tropical.
