This is what happened to my primroses a few years back. First I blamed the sparrows, but later on, having seen the damage earwigs can do to dahlias, I thought it might be earwigs. Or is March too early for earwigs?
I keep chasing squirrels off a single red camellia. Over half the flowers are gone. They leave a double pink one alone. Bluetits are pecking at the centre of the red one but don't damage the flowers. Rabbits nip heads off my daffs also although they don't eat them.

Puzzled by the typo in the original message - what's a large gainfully? Can't work that one out at all!
I accuse Mary Berry in the kitchen with a sugar syrup.
Have just watched her crystallising primrose flowers and leaves to decorate a Simnel cake on the Bake Off Easter Special
Problem solved

I was wondering what had done that to my primroses too. We have pheasants by the score here so I may as well get used to it I suppose.
My primroses this afternoon, something's had a feast.
Disappointing as last year they were lovely.
